APRIL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
DEAR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS The April school holidays are fast approaching! Join us for a week of action packed fun and adventure, with plenty of sport, onsite activities, and outings. To check out the programme details for each venue or register online, go to www.sportcanterbury.org.nz April 2017 school holiday highlights for full day participants: Week One: 18th - 21st (Easter Monday is the 17th) • Papanui: enjoy a trip to the Margaret Mahy playground, a rugby skills session with the boys from the Belfast Rugby Club, plus the usual awesome swimming at Graham Condon and trip to Hoyts. • Lincoln: learn new skills with a session from Touch Canterbury and Canterbury Country Cricket and bounce the afternoon away at Mega Air! • Pioneer: Juniors get crafty and make and fly your own kite, swim at Pioneer and join the Seniors for a trip to Hoyts to see ‘Baby Boss’. Seniors get inventive with a session with Science Alive and hit the pool for swimming fun. • Westburn: learn new skills with a session from Touch Canterbury, swim at Jellie Park and take trip to Hoyts to see ‘Baby Boss’. Juniors - scoot, skate or bike around the Westburn Bike Park, using road safety skills, Seniors - have a go at Frisbee Golf. • Swannanoa: learn new skills with a session from Canterbury Country Cricket, swim at Dudley Park and get crafty with kite making and flying. • Ashburton: sharpen your cricket skills with a session from Mid Canterbury Cricket, swim at the EA Centre, including fun on the inflatables and see ‘Baby Boss’ at the movies. Week Two: 24th, 26th – 28th (Anzac Day is Tuesday 25th) • Christchurch Boys High: learn new skills with a session from High School Old Boys Rugby Club, go crazy at the Phat SK8 roller disco, take in a movie at Hoyts. Juniors get crafty and make and fly a kite, Seniors swim at Wharenui. • Rolleston: take on an orienteering challenge at the Halswell Quarry, Juniors enjoy a picnic and games afternoon at Parekura Reserve, Seniors swim at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre. Dental Care over the School Holidays The Community Dental Service will operate an emergency service over the school holidays. This service is to provide relief of pain only and will not undertake ‘routine’ treatment. The service will be available each working day from 8:45am until 12:30pm from the Hillmorton Community Clinic, Sylvan Street, Christchurch for the following times: Tuesday, 18th April to 21st April 2017 (excluding weekends) And Monday, 24th April And Wednesday, 26th April to Friday, 28th April 2017 (excluding weekends) This service will operate by appointment only and if we are unable to see your child, alternative options will be given. If your child has dental pain as a result of an accident please contact your dentist in the first instance. You can phone and make an appointment for the emergency clinic by ringing 0800 846 983.
Free School Holiday Activities at ANIMATES
Hi Everyone With the Easter school holidays coming up, Animates stores nationwide will be hosting free workshops, perfect for keeping the kids entertained! This is a great way for kids to learn important life skills such as kindness and compassion towards animals. The workshops will teach them everything they need to know about animals small in size (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats & mice). Dear Bromley School Youth Alive Trust Programmes 1. July Holiday Programmes Registrations are now open for our Junior and Senior Holiday Programmes in July for Years 1-4 and Years 5-9. Activities include Clip & Climb, Gymnastics, a trip to the Theatre, heaps of games and an awesome group of leaders! Sign up online or at our offices. 2. Kidsfest Activities in New Brighton Youth Alive Trust are hosting three Kidsfest activities in July. More info in the Kidsfest booklet or online. i) Basketball Holiday Programmes for ages 6 – 9 & 9 – 12. ii) ‘Have a Go’ Music Lessons, including drums, guitar and piano for ages 5 – 13. iii) Under 5’s Music Session by Petite Music Box. 3. Parenting Toolbox Courses We are taking the details of parents wanting to complete a Parenting Toolbox course in New Brighton ran by The Parenting Place. Options include Early Years, Middle Years or Tweens & Teens, but we need enough numbers for it to run. Mainland Football Holiday Programmes
New Zealand Football and Mainland's action-packed holiday football programme are a great way for young players to have fun and develop their football skills at the same time. Available from one to three consecutive days per week. Suitable for children aged 7-14 years old. Children will be placed in groups relative to their age and ability. Girls only session's also available For the Futsal Holiday Programme (week 2). Each session includes skill-based training, so kids can learn the tricks and techniques to become better players. There are also plenty of chances to play football games in a fun environment, and experience the thrill of putting those skills into practice.
